Rogue “Berkut” in the snow.

Been a while since I’ve drawn my SU-47 character in this style.

I’ve since ditched all the arbitrary markings - she’s come a long ways since her original incarnation from many many years ago. She’s supposed to be based on the single SU-47 that exists today, so I want to stick to the original in all ways, aside from the fact that this is a weird shape-shifty biomech plane..!

Love the style! :) And the plane choice is amazing regarding to it as being the first operational prototype fighter with inversed wings. miss this kind of machine and pitty it didn't go through production :)

Keep up the good work!

I'm a very big fan of the SU-47 and the forward-swept design. There are older prototypes with this layout (see X-29 for example,) but yes, this is the first militarized one. It would have been very cool to see a series of these made, however I think they may have been outdated by the time they could have been deployed. It's unfortunate that the design couldn't have been pulled off earlier, but there was always a materials-strength problem - forward-swept wings like to twist and tear themselves apart, so it wasn't possible to put them on a super-maneuverable design until the design of strong composite materials had caught up. (If I remember correctly, the Berkut's wings are allowed to flex, but the wing root's composite design includes a structural twist to counter these rotational forces so the wings don't shear right off!)

I guess, but i'm not sure, that the russian military never abandonned the forward-swept design and so we will maybe see in the future something similar :)
there is already a trainer that was created not long ago.
Also the SU-47 wings were taken from a SU-27, i'm not sur it was possible for this plane to twist them correctly.

here you go! :)

I did see this a while ago! Translating the responses is always hilarious - seems some people think I'm totally nuts (understandable!) but if people are having fun with it, then I'm happy!

I love progress sequences! I find it so interesting to watch the image take shape and compare someone's process to my own. It's also like a 'spot the difference' hunt!

dude she's beautiful!  the removal of her markings makes her more sleek and smooth-looking, I really like the look! I'm not familiar with the old look though haha XD

She's a very very old character so I'm not surprised (I don't think I have much of her old incarnations around anymore.) Basically it was too much edgy-teenager-sparkle-color-stuff going on with her until I gave her a more serious story!
