Before I get a million comments about it, yes, there is a small Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind reference (initially unintentional, but then I decided to totally roll with it.)
Are those Banchees in the background?
This isn't on Pandora, no ;D
aw sweeet! love all the skreh's
Very graceful and elegant! The Nausica reference works well.
Is there any worldbuilding that went along with these organic-looking machines? Or are they just the product of capricious imagination?
There absolutely is. I don't post too much of it publicly (until I can get enough storytelling and concept pieces out) but you're welcome to PM me with questions if you want a few walls of text, haha. Long story short, all of this takes place in an alternate Earth timeline, with a parallel sentient creature race, some weird inter-dimensional shit that gets woven into material reality thanks to said creatures meddling with human affairs, and later on having Earth collide with an unstable patch of spacetime thanks to the outcome of a great world-wide calamity (not exactly a rift, but it allows for some weird shit like the Maschinengeister to exist) which opens into the "Post-Earth" setting, where the last of humanity and mechanical life forms develop into a strange new kind of world.
